Meet Mxolisi Rodrick Duma

So who is Mxolisi? Well that’s a trick question. Usually when people ask me this I just tell them that I am a Software developer. There’s a lot more to the story though.

My software development journey and love for business began in 2014 when my brother asked me to come and watch over his technical business. Though in High school I was interested in studying Civil Engineering. There at my brothers Cafe I did most of Computer Hardware repairs and I started teaching myself basic Html and Css, thats when my love for Software development started, I wanted to know more.

As previously mentioned after high school I went and worked for my brother for one year. In 2015, I chose to volunteer as a full-time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of latter Day saints and I was called to serve in Uganda for the period of 24 months and thats where I was certain that when I came back I would focus on my career in Computer Science. I came back in 2017 August and thats when I registered at the University of South Africa to study Bsc Computer Science. I started my course in January 2018 and even now I am still on it as it is part-time, on the verge of completing my qualification. As I was still studying at UNISA, in the year of 2019, I came across an opportunity at WeThinkCode to study Software Engineering for a period of 2 years- full time, I got into the program and I recently completed my studies.

I am a risk taking inventor who loves challenging the conventional way of thinking. I love technology so much that I sometimes make the mistake of viewing people as just another technological system. So basically I love coding!!!
